This is the place to find quick answers to some important questions regarding volunteering for ICMP 2003.
On behalf of the International Career Conference Committee, we appreciate your willingness to assist us with this year's conference. With your help as a volunteer we are confident that this will be a great event!
You will be considered for a position as a volunteer once you have submitted your volunteer application. Please submit your application as soon as possible for it to be considered by the committee.
Between 20-30 volunteers are needed to cover a six-day period.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate individual scheduling preferences when assigning volunteer tasks for the conference. Please take this into consideration when volunteering, and be prepared to pitch in wherever necessary. Typically we have more volunteers than positions to fill so please volunteer early!
By volunteering you can attend the conference Free. Complimentary meals are provided based upon your shift(s). You also have the benefit of being able to network with others in your field, and have the satisfaction of playing a part in a conference that is a recognized leader in career development.
You will be re-assigned if possible. It is very likely that we will have assigned all available slots and may not be able to accommodate your request. In this case you would not be able to fulfill your volunteer requirement and we would not be able to accommodate your request for a refund of your conference fee.
No. Please dress as you normally would to attend the conference. All volunteers will receive a volunteer "Ask Me" button that must be worn during their allotted assignment. We suggest you wear comfortable shoes as you may be standing for a period of time.
No. The conference cannot afford to pay for accommodations for its volunteers so you will be responsible for making payment for this yourself. We suggest you register early as the conference is popular with national and international participants and hotel accommodations may sell out fast.
There are several area parking lots near the conference, but volunteers are responsible for the cost of parking.
You don't have to be an expert! Students and enthusiasts work alongside industry professionals. Enthusiasm and interest are important qualities. There are usually more applicants than positions so make sure you use the spaces provided in the volunteer application form to tell us as much about yourself as possible. You must have a good attitude, a willingness to help, and an ability to be flexible and customer service oriented.
All volunteers are required to attend a 1.5 hour training session prior to getting their assignment. There will be 2 training sessions to try to accommodate everyone's schedule, but you must attend one. Volunteers will be provided with a training manual prior to the conference to give you an overview of your duties and assignments and to answer many of the basic volunteering questions. Volunteer Coordinators will be available throughout the conference to answer any questions you may have.
In order to accurately keep track of hours worked, volunteers will log in and out at the beginning and end of their shift each day. We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your assigned shift, to make the necessary preparations for your assignment and debrief with the volunteer coordinator. Both the volunteer and the volunteer coordinators will sign timesheets.
Submit your application: email it to stalboom@kit-group.org or fax it to +49 3024603310 as soon as possible.
